On Sunday, October 13, 2009, the O Globo's Sunday Magazine featured the Valente Brothers and their school in North Miami Beach. O Globo is Rio de Janeiro’s most prominent news paper. The two page article talks about how 3 “cariocas” (natives of Rio de Janeiro) from Cosme Velho (neighborhood in Rio) who studied at the American School, established Florida’s largest and most successful Jiu-Jitsu academy. The story, titled, Caras Valentes or Brave Guys, recounts the long lasting connection between the Gracie and Valente families and points out that the Valente Brothers have a great responsibility to carry on the vison and ideals of the Grandmasters and brothers, Carlos and Hélio Gracie due to the fact that three generations of their family learned Jiu-Jitsu from the late Grandmaster Hélio Gracie. The brothers also commented on how their father, Dr. Pedro Valente Sr., delegated part of their upbringing to Hélio Gracie and how that shaped their lives.
